Nimes (France) .-The multinational designer of denim clothes Lee Cooper does not wish to see the mark associated with the Nimes Fair while bullfights are included in the celebrations. Thanks to a campaign of sensitization, animal lovers were rewarded when Lee Cooper issued a bulletin confirming that the company ” supports neither the bullfights nor what they imply. Our mark, which has represented authentic values for more than 100 years, cannot support this type of spectacle”.  Lee Cooper has suppressed from its web pages the link to the Nimes Fair.

French animal lovers achieved a very positive reaction from the campaign of sensitization carried out during the Fair: “in just 4 hours 360 signatures were gathered against bullfighting. The press, the television channel France 3, South Radio and the newspapers Midi Libre, La Provence and France Bleu have covered the actions of the animal defenders.  In addition the television channel Direct 8 stayed alongside the animal lovers for 3 days, filming a peice for the program ” Enquête inedite” (Unedited Investigations).  The target is to do everything possible to arouse the sensibility of tourists and spectators in order that they are made conscious of the suffering that these spectacles involve for both the bulls and the horses.
