Spain. – The association ‘Irish Council Against Blood Sports’, (ICABS), has succeeded in persuading the biggest travel agency in Ireland to withdraw the image of a bullfighter from their advertisements for holidays to Spain. The agency operates in 30 countries, including Spain. In addition, the head of the agency has assured the ICABS, that in the future they will not include bullfights in the itineraries for their clients booking holidays in Spain.
Furthermore the Spanish office of tourism in Dublin has also confirmed that it never uses images of bullfights or toreadors in their publicity, ‘because it is a delicate issue and an activity that displeases some people.’ (January, 2010).
