Monumental bullring closes down

Barcelona, September 2011 .- Thanks to the huge number of people who have said a resounding NO to this barbaric tradition, we are delighted to be able to say that Catalonia has abolished bullfighting. Antibullfighting supportersgathered outside the gates of the Monumental bullring carrying banners saying “goodbye and good riddance” and other such slogans. There were tense moments as the frustration and anger of bullfighting supporters who had also gathered outside the building clashed with antibullfighting demonstrators and in one incident pro bullfighting supporters attacked a woman and her son.
