Medellin (Columbia), June 2012. – The mayor of Medellin has announced that his administration will no longer fund bullfights in the city. However the reality of the pact made by the city authorities with the organisers of these events is that from now on only so-called “bloodless” bullfights will be staged. The only difference between these and other bullfight events is that the bull is not killed in front of the public
International anti bullfight movements have been alerted to this proposal which, though presented as a ‘humanisation’ of the events, is anything but.
