Proposal to the European citizenship to abolish bullfights in the south of France

On the Web page of EU European Citizen Consultations the pro-animal affiliation French Alliance Anticorrida (French Anti-bullfighting Alliance) has presented a proposal to bring an end to bullfights in the South of France The affiliation wrote to all the Euro MPs encouraging them to declare their position on the practice of the bullfighting. Their founder and activist, Claire Starozinsky, clearly stated her point of view on this matter. “To torture to death for the pleasure the few?  It is a scandal!¨  Their steadfast opposition to bull-fights has resulted in a proposition that was debated on March 21st and 22nd, 2009.  This proposition is at the head of all citizen approved propositions on the European Consultations website, whose patron is the President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pötering.  Because, as the founder and representatives of this affiliation states, “we do not have right to ill-treat these animals. The love, the honour that we have for the bulls and their survival does not necessitate torturing them up to death in public for the delight of a minority.”
