Lima, Perú. – The famous Peruvian singer-songwriter Orlando Bellis will be the ‘face’ of the anti- bullfight campaign “Peru united against the bullfights ”, launched to protest against the bullfights organized for the ‘Fiesta del Señor de los Milagros’ (Feast of the Lord of the Miracles), in the Square of Acho.
Orlando Bellis was present last Sunday, the 8th of November in the square, where he performed his music in support of the defense of animal well-being, and signed autographs for those present. The singer-songwriter is also the ‘face’ of the, “We all Feel it”, campaign against banderillas (the short spears with which the bulls are stabbed).
One of his songs against the bullfights, “Blood in the Sand”, could be a hymn for anti-bullfighting campaigners of the world since it exposes both explicitly and metaphorically, what happens in the bullfights. The song has already turned into a musical denunciation against this unjustifiable tradition. (January, 2010)
