The obsession to stab an animal

Summary. – The whole ritual of the bullfighting has just one identical obsessive purpose: to pierce the body of the bull and to fill his body of wounds and holes; the more the better. The torture begins when the infant animal is just a few months of age: to prepare it for what is to come it is branded by several red hot irons, and immediately afterwards the singed skin is cut from his ears so that he will carry the indelible signs until the day of his death. After a few months more, two horsemen armed with a lance will chase him around a field and harassing him will thrust a sharp lance into him, then will knock him down and whenever he gets up they will thrust it into him again. Some months later the same operation will be repeated but with more wounds inflicted. On arrival at the bullring, an emblem will first be thrust into him and immediately afterwards, two or three barbs several centimeters deep. The torture will continue for several minutes more as 6 more banderillas (short lances or darts) are thrust into the back of the neck. As a culmination of this barbarous ritual, the bull killers will thrust into the defenseless animal several rapiers and daggers to bring an end to this sinister ritual of death. (March 2010)
